iPod             Designed by Apple, the iPod was launched on October 23,2001.

The iPod grew out of necessity. Apple believed that the existing MP3 Players
were large and cumbersome or small and useless.
Tony Fadell, former employee of  General Magic and Phillips, envisioned a brand new MP3                 player.Unlike the flash memory based MP3 players from Rio and other companies,                                     Fadell wanted to deliver a small hard drive player that was linked with a content delivery                       system where users could legally  obtain and download music.
